I grew up in Cincinnati on The Grateful Dead. When I arrived in Athens there was no jam band scene, so I started one. That became The Four Winds. Then I noticed there was no space for bass music. So I built Athens Bass Ops.
Two different genres, same instinct: see what's missing, go build it.
I want to work on the side of live music where real decisions get made. Booking, management, and marketing. This is where I excel. The thing I am most proud of is not ticket sales. I take pride in creating an environment where art can flourish, and people can be exposed to new music they have never heard. This is real impact.
There was no bass music scene in Athens. So I built one. Athens Bass Ops is a student-operated music promotion company that brings talented artists and high levels of production to the Ohio University nightlife scene.
In our first run we held 7 shows, 4 of them sold out. We collaborated with music venues, artists all over Ohio, popular local bars, Ohio University Greek life, production companies, and several other student-led promotion companies.
The Rally Party at The Pigskin Bar and Grille was a collaboration event with the Up & Up Ohio University team. This became the largest bass music event in the history of Athens, Ohio.
After building Athens Bass Ops, I was recruited by Monster Energy: Up & Up Ohio University. Up & Up is a nationwide competition where over 100 universities compete against each other to win a Monster Energy sponsored music festival.
While Ohio University did not win, our team had the best performance in school history. In 3 months I managed artist booking, contract negotiation, production logistics, finance, and a marketing campaign that drove social media growth by 440%. I was recognized as one of the top ambassadors in the country.
Collaborating with established local musicians, I co-founded The Four Winds. This was a 4-piece Grateful Dead tribute band. Over 3 years we became one of the highest ticket selling acts in Athens. We played over 20 shows, never repeating setlists, and curated every event with intention.
After contacting the management team of the Denver, Colorado band Sqwerv, we played an opening set for a sold out room, sharing the stage with the talented members of Sqwerv. This was the biggest artist I had ever booked. To do this I helped route tours, managed hospitality, and ran an aggressive marketing campaign.
